Hi all,

This goes mostly to Tinner and others who know copper, but even if you are not very familiar with it, but know where I can find info that i need, then please share it.

I need to learn quickly some things about copper roofs, mostly bay windows, eyebrow dormers, etc.

I can put a basic copper panel together, but need to know what you do at the wall flashing - this especially goes for Eyebrow dormers.

Please check this link out: http://www.copperexterior.com/_bay_window-roof

How do I curve a panel like that?Do I weld the hip-joints at the top or just counter-flash it. What if I had to curve it out?

If you look at clips, you can see that they have an extra flap on the outside and then in the final pictures, flap disappears. Where is it?

Here http://www.eliteroofing.ca/ima...Copper-roof-side.jpg as you can see one of the ribs meets another at the center of hip. Do you weld them?

Bottom Line:

I am looking for picture galleries of such jobs (I know Tinner has plenty) and preferably in High resolution, so I can see what's going on.
I also want to see youtube videos, online guides or even a book on how to do this stuff. Please share all the info you have.

I cannot direct you to any sites or photos of copper roof installs. But I can tell you its a lot of work and not something you can learn in just a few jobs and from a few photos.

I have a lot of experience with sheet metal fabrication. Taught it in Voc School for several years. Standing seams and layouts are very difficult to do and require a lot time to do. Copper is way too expensive to attempt to do this yourself.
If you’re just interested in how this is done so you can be more informed if you’re hiring someone. Learning all you can is great. But soldering not welding copper is very difficult to do and takes years of practice. Even if you’re a quick learner.
Good luck on this project.

This page has some outtakes from a book they are trying to sell:

Sorry, all them are in stupid pdf format so you'll need an Acrobat reader.
