Just wondered if any of you have experience with Ondura roofing material...and, if so, which works better, the "tiles" that are ~20"x48" or the sheets that are 48"x79"?

I also have another question. Is it possible to put insulation, maybe in the form of foam sheets W or W/O foil on the roof first and then the Ondura panels?

Can men who do usual asphalt roofing do this or would I need someone else...maybe those who do metal roofs??

THANKS

Ondura panels are a fiberglass sheet, not onlike the ones you see at the big box stores.
However the diffrence would be they are much better quality and thicker.
I would not suggest this type of panel on a home. They are fine for a while, but in high wind areas, or areas of high heat, they can break down fairly quickly and become brittle

I suggest you contact the manufacture of the product or visit the web site for warranty information and compare it with conventional roofing materials and price.

THANKS Home Care Club, since we live in west TX we have both heat and high winds. We also have to contend with BIG hail every once in a while.

Guess we better go back to the more conventional types of roofing.

THANKS again.

I have repaired a few ondura roofs. They are always supposed to be lifetime but from my experience thats could only be true if you died within 5 years of putting it on.

There is no way I would put this on any project at all.

THANKS for your replies. We've pretty much talked ourselves out of it, especially now with your input.
Thanks again,
