I am trying to sell my home and am running into a few problems, one being: In my family room, there is brick on the wall that looks like it should be a fireplace, but is not..it is just all brick ceiling to floor. about the width of a fireplace, maybe a little narrower., and half of the wall across from it is the same brick. people cannot understand what it is when they come in. We bought it like this about 15 years ago,but never did anything with it. But now with people looking at it, we have to do something....It would be a mess to tear it out and ALOT of work. (my husband works 2 jobs) I have a pic of it, but i don't know if pictures can be listed here. Does anyone ahve any ideas or I can send a picture to someones email. Thanks so much.

what you need to do is nothing. YOu purchased this house with this wall. So will someone else. If you decorate it properly it can be a nice accent to the room. If you have not painted it, do not do it. You could always get a fake older wood stove and set it in front to accent it. But because your selling. Do not spend any money on changing it.

Thank you. That is kind of what we were thinking too. I had the idea of putting up some type of bar around it, but still thinking about that. Thanks again.

I just love your colors and the wall paint offsets your sofa beautifully. So these are some ideas that struck me to lighten things up a bit while keeping the beautiful wall color and contrast with your sofas. And a peek of what your bookcases might look like Smiler It would be nice to beef up the mantel also to hold its weight with the new casework. Doesn't quite look like there's room, but a light reflecting glass-top sofa table would add to brightening things also, or something along those general lines : ) I did warm the ceiling a tad.
