We want to remodel our master bathroom. When we bought our home, there was a bidet in the master bathroom. We would like to take it out and put in a double sink and much needed storage.

However, I wonder how popular bidets are? Does anyone have any experience with them? Is it better for resale purposes to leave the bidet in place?

We appreciate your thoughts -

Its all pretty personal saying what each individual may prefer, but in general there hasn't been much of a call for bidets in the American market. I think a double sink would give you a much better return and adding storage in any space is a bonus.

From my experience as a designer, unless you have a very large bathroom, two bathroom sinks are a waste of more valuable counter space. Two adults rarely, if ever want to be in the bathroom simultaneously.
Ditch the bidet, most Americans don't want them and would rather have additional storage space.

As an interior designer specializing in new home construction and renos, I've never had a client want a bidet. I concur with other respondents, remove it. (Interestingly enough, I am seeing an increased demand for residential urinals)....
