Hello. I'm remodeling a small half bath. I'm having trouble deciding what finish to pick for the fixtures, towel rack, etc. Should the fixtures match the finishes elsewhere in the house, i.e. the kitchen cabinet handles, light fixtures, doorknobs on interior doors? Right now I have a mixture of finishes in the house but have recently replaced all the interior doorknobs and the front door handles with oil brushed bronze (or something like that). Does this mean that my bathroom should have that finish? My style is transitional. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The bath can be what ever you like. Typcially people are choosing brushed nickel nowadays. If the door knob does not match what people do is put the nickle on the inside part and the brass or what ever other style is on the rest of the house on the outside part of the door.

I'd say you can put a different finish in the bath - no problem. I think it is boring when everything in the house has the same "look". For instance, all of my door handles are satin nickel but my main bath has brushed bronze fixtures. It gives the bath its own look and feel. To make it a coordinated look, I would recommend that whatever finish you use on the bath fixtures, try to use the same look on the drawer knobs and pulls. It gives it a real nice look and proves that you put some thought into the design and you just didn't throw the batch together and try to cut corners.
I'm having the exact same problem as Steph. I'm considering a snazzy chrome bath facuet in a half bath, with matching fixtures. The rest of the house would look best with brass/gold toned door handles. If I put a chrome handle on the inside of the bathroom door, but a brass handle on the outside of the door, what finish of hinges should go on the door, brass or chrome? Thanks.
