This company represented itself as a "HIGH LEVEL" contractor when we decided to add a master bed and bath. The job was suppose to take 45 days, December 19th will be 90 days. They have failed five plumping inspection, that we know of, and one mechnical. The mechnical inspection was done only once and that was after all the walls were up and painted. The floors are not level, they nailed corner molding around the entire bedroom only to hide the space where the carpet and the baseboards do not even come close to meeting. They CUT a hole in the carpet to remove a stain!! The door frame misses touching the bathroom floor by about 1". The vanity is held to the wall with chaulk. We have huge bulges in the drywall. This is just what we can see... i hate to think of what we can not see. To top it off BWI has walked off the job unless we pay them the balance. of course we will not until they fix what we have already paid for. Please pass this to as many people as possible...BWI should not be allow in anyone's house. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. Any other advice? karen.dakos@alliedtech.com
Be sure to take a lot of GOOD pictures(where you can actually see what the picture is trying to show). Also, hold whatever else you owe for now until everything is fixed and inspected. If its as bad as you say, it might be worth consulting with a attorney(find one that will give you a free consultation) so you can see what your legal rights are. He has failed to meet his part of the contract so far. Did he have a licensed plumber doing the plumbing? There is no reason to fail a plumbing inspection 5 time. One or two might be acceptable if the town has certain requirements that the plumber does not know about. You might also consider, after consulting with a lawyer, having another contractor coming in to note what is wrong. Doing all of this will help you for when he will(most likely) sue you for the remainder of the bill. But of course, the court will probably also want you to give him a chance to fix the mistakes. Like I said, talk with a lawyer.

Unfortunately one of our houses had some plumbing issues, it didn't fail it 5 times but it failed the air pressure test once and it took 3 weeks to find out why. Sheetrocker screwed a screw into a drainage pipe, not to mention that there was one of those galvanized "guards" nailed to the stud to protect the pipe, no - the sheetrocker ran into this and gave it a extra push to make sure that it went through.... Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread - it just made me think of that.

We have taken many, many pics. The contractor told us he would fix some of the problems...but the floor/walls we would have to pay extra for. Of course we refused. We hired an inspector to do a complete inspection, he found more problems. We sent the contractor a copy of the inspectors findings, certified mail, requesting more money back. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks Adam!
Hi Goo I feel your pain as I have had MANY HORROR stories the past 3 years in trying to build a home. Lousy crooked workers seem to find us. DO NOT Pay him. The only help we could find was the NC Consumer Protection (Attorney Generals Office) You can find VA online. You can get all the papers to fill out online. The BBB was a complete waste of time. The AGs office helped us get money back from a crooked gutter man. We hired a attorney to help with a CROOKED Roofer and it cost $2000.00 for him to write a letter, another nightmare. Also there should be a builders Association that you could report him to.Don't let him scare you by saying he will put a lien on your house, he can file a paper but it is nothing until a hearing and then you can defend your self and with pictures I am sure you will win. I am in Hatteras not to far from you. Good Luck
Thanks. Never thought about the AG. We plan to do ALL possible...please let alll your friends know about "BEEN WORNGED INC." AI see now what the name really means. Again, thanks it just feels good to talk with someone who understands.
Been Wronged, Inc. and I have reached a mutualy agreed upon, negotiated settlement regarding our contractual dispute and I now consider our differences resolved. Goo.
