I'd like to build a new patio in my backyard, right next to my house. I'm wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of stamped concrete vs. brick pavers.

For best water drainage and longevity - I'd choose pavers every time. It's pretty much a no-brainer.

I agree with WolfGuy on this one. While stamped concrete can look pretty good. It will end up cracking and does not drain water very well. Pavers are the way to go.

Not sure what your asking about? As far as suggetions I thought I pretty much answered that question. If the stuff is torn up and you do not want to put it back down, then Pavers, or a wood deck would be in order.
Of course some people are also using pea sized gravel locked into place with wood ties, or garden edgeing. A lot of what you do would be based on what look your going for and what amount of use this deck will be getting.

I think we answered this.
Pavers are the best thing to use if you want quality. Stamped concrete although nice, does not last as long. But depending on your area in which you reside. That life can vary greatly.

Also as far as increase in home value. You will only get back if your lucky on what you spent.
Decks, patios etc do very little to increase value. It only helps sell the property.

Concrete is a way better option that pavers! Pavers shift, Allow for plants and weeds to grow in between and are limited to a pre-selected color and pattern. Stamped concrete allows you to choose whatever color, pattern or style you want as well is a continuous solid surface that eliminates any weeds growing. And concrete lasts - What do you think pavers are made out of?? Have you seen the Hoover dam lately? Must disagree here. Pavers when properly installed will not shift and last much longer then cement. As far as weeds, Its not much work now and again to spray with veg killer so nothing grows.
