I have a new shower. The contractor paid and took shower. Later found lots of water in the basement. Wanted to have the contractor back to fix but no longer available. I know the lines all were pressure tested and no leaks. I think the floor is leaking. The floor is tile on concrete over 3/4 in ply. Any ideas for fixing the leak with out riping the floor out and starting over. I don't have cash for new contractor and my body just don't get down that far anymore.

there should be a "shower pan" made of rubber most likely, it should have gone in under the tile base material. it's folded in the corners so as not to leak. if it's not installed correctly or at all, it will certainly leak. the only way to fix it is to remove the entire floor and do it properly.

sorry

It could maybe be the drain.

But more likely it's faulty in the mud pan.

There could be penetration in the waterproof liner or worse, no liner at all.

Do you have contractor's license number? or address?

May want to get a lawyer to help you pay for a quality contractor to do the job right the first time.

good luck!
