I am hoping somebody can help me out -- In the master and guest bathroom, there is a rotten egg smell for about the first 2-3 minutes that either hot or cold water is run in the bathroom sinks. The smell then goes away, and is not present in the showers, bathtubs, or kitchen sink. We've tried pouring bleach, etc, down the drain but nothing seems to work. Any ideas??

I would probably turn my attention to the water coming in, not going out. Run both the hot and cold water independantly for a few minutes each and see if you notice anything with the smell. Actually do one each sink. The rotten egg smell is quite common in hot water, cold too if you have a well rather than a city hookup. If that's the case, then we can look at remedies.

Can you smell it from the water or does it come from the drain? Have you put some in a bucket and it smelled bad too?

Hi,
I got tired of smelly (and hard) water and after doing tons of research bought a whole house water filtration system. The best product I could find at the best price was the Natural Clear. I got it online here: http://www.houseneeds.com/shop/waterfilters/wholehousewaterfiltersmain.asp
It's been wonderful so far and I highly recommend it.
