Can someone tell me what a studor vent is? Is this a standard plumbing part for a sink installation?
Can you confirm that shutoffs and pvc are standard parts for plumbing a sink.

Existing unutilized plumbing (water and drainage) for an old claw foot tub was utilized for plumbing our new sink.

Thanks,
Karen

A Studor vent is a air vent used typically on installations where either no vent to the outside can be installed such as island sinks in some cases, or in retrofit installs where an old S trap was used and no vent exists.
It simply is a fitting with a flapper type of valve inside that opens up when water is drained out of a sink but prevents odor from coming back into the living area. Some townships do not allow for this device except under special circumstances.

Shut offs and PVC can be used in plumbing. But not in some cases PVC is typically used as drain material. Pex tubing is used for water lines. CPVC pipes (gray pipe) is used as supply connection pipes but it’s a cheep way of doing things.
