Hi, My mom moved in with me. When she takes a bath, she doesn't open the faucet all the way and this causes a loud screeching noise all over the house. I've checked - if you open the faucet all the way - it doesn't screech. Is there anything I can do (I don't want to tell her) to make this noise go away? Thanks.

Ahh its great when you get older. You no longer hear these things. The washer in the faucet is the most likely culprit. As they age like people things move around a bit. Changing the faucet washer should cure this problem.

I have a bath/shower faucet that has a scald guard feature in it. It works kind of like a pressure modulator and with the faucet only halfway open it squeals. I've never learned of a way to fix it. As it has aged it has gotten better.
