I have a john and shower on the same wall and wonder how much problem it would be to switch the 2. I want to lengthen the shower and the only other option is to move the john about 3' - 4' away from it's current position on the adjoining wall.

Which way would require less demolition of the floor?

THANKS for any suggestions.

Probably doesn't matter a whole lot. The shower drain will not be big enough to support a water closet, so you're going to have to chop back to existing water closet pipe and extend it. Same work as moving the can 3 or 4 feet, I'd guess. You only do the work once, but you live with it a long time, so do what works best for you, even if it's a little more demolition.
